THE DRINKS CABINET: HOW TO MAKE A CLASSIC MARTINI
From a classic martini to the perfect Manhattan, there are some key drinks you need in your entertaining arsenal. Any self-respecting home bartender should be able to grab a Boston shaker and mix up one of these beauties for a guest (or yourself… perfection requires practice) quicker than you can say ‘shaken not stirred’. Get your lips around our classic Martini:
• 2 ounces dry gin
• 1 ounce dry vermouth
• 1 dash orange bitters (optional, but highly recommended)
Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir well to chill and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Twist a piece of lemon peel over the drink and use as garnish, or, if you must, toss in an olive. Drink and channel some Ian Flemming.
